Spelling Bee

Spelling Bee is a useful standalone tool for people who like to use big words. Just type in a word, and if it's not a word in the dictionary, it will make some suggestions. Click on the "..." or press the up/down arrow keys to see more suggestions. It features auto-copy, auto-checking, and two different visual styles.

New! You can use Spelling Bee with many different languages. Select which dictionary to use by right-clicking the Widget and clicking on the short dictionary code. To add languages other than English, first download a dictionary file from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/dict/ (Note that you should only download files beginning with aspell or aspell5 - aspell6 files probably will not work). Then drag the tar.bz2 file onto the Widget. The bee will let you know when it's done installing the new dictionary. Then, activate it by right-clicking the Widget, and choosing "Manage Dictionaries." Finally, right-click and select the dictionary.

Spelling Bee also lets you customize the colors and size.

This Widget uses the open source aspell (http://aspell.net) and runs entirely from your own computer - no Internet connection required!

Gmail Notifier

Keep up to date with your Gmail inbox.

The Widget presents a summary of newly arrived email in a fading float-popup and plays an accompanying sound. The summary contains on author and on subject a direct link to the particular mail on Gmail. When clicking elsewhere in the summary the float-popup stays so that one can read properly. Multiple new arrivals are presented consecutively. The latest arrivals can be reannounced by selecting "Tell Latest Again" from the context-menu.
Location of float-popup on screen, style of sound and overall timing can be configured in the Widget's preferences.

Like other notifiers the total number of unread emails is shown as well and links to your inbox or label-inbox on Gmail.

On Mac OS X, you can monitor multiple-accounts and/or multiple-labels in parallel by creating copies of this Widget with different names, configuring each individually and running them in parallel. The zero-size inbox-icon comes in handy for this.
You can built fully automated content aware mail-queues by defining Gmail-labels based on Gmail-filters.

This Widget has been developed on Mac OS X. It also runs on Windows.

Buddy Stalker

This Widget shows a graphical history of the IM status of your iChat buddies. Choose to keep a 5 hour, 10 hour, or truly obnoxious 24 hour graph on your screen. As the hours pass, the bars on the graph slide to the left, so the most recent data is always at the right-hand side.

Bonus function: You can also leave 'frozen messages' for buddies who are offline. The messages are delivered through IM as soon as the buddy becomes available.

Da Emails

Email constantly coming in? Trying to work? Being bothered by the constant switching back and forth between other applications and Mail simply to see whether the email came from one of your mailing lists or a family member? Da Emails helps with that.

The Da Emails talks to Apple's Mail program and determines which mailboxes have unread mail in them. Da Emails then makes a list of all of these mailboxes and displays them in a customizeable interface.

Thanks to the power of Konfabulator, you can set Da Emails to be visible just above the desktop picture so that it's never in your way, but always there when you need it. With Mac OS X 10.3's revolutionary Exposé feature, seeing what new mail has come in is as easy as moving the mouse into an Exposé hot corner or hitting a key on the keyboard.
