Eye Candy

It’s not what you think!

Eye Candy is a simple Widget for periodically downloading a picture from the web. You can park Eye Candy at the top or bottom of your screen. It will periodically download an image from a URL that you specify—say a weather radar or a web cam.

Eye Candy keeps the image neatly out of sight until you want to refer to it. Just click on the candy to display the image, either full-size or scaled to the same width as the candy. Another click tucks the image away. Click on the displayed image to switch between scaled and full size. Drag on the right-end of the Widget to change it’s length—and change the scale of the image!

To move the Widget, hold down the command key while dragging.

Mail Candy

Small, discreet, and oh so sweet!

This is a simple in-box monitoring Widget that works with Mac OS X Mail. The candy shows gray when there are no unread messages. The candy changes color (and optionally pulsates) when new messages arrive.

To move the Widget, hold down the command key while dragging.

Click the Mail icon inside the Widget to bring the Mail application to the front. Move the mouse over the candy to see a tool-tip showing the number of unread messages. Use the preferences to change the candy color and pulsating behavior, or to have Mail Candy check just your in-box, all folders except a given list of folders, or only a given list of folders.

Quiet Count Down

Here's a countdown Widget that does not display seconds, just a simple days, hours, and minutes display. I created it because I'm easily distracted by those rolling seconds in other count downs.

Quiet Count Down is based on panthClock, but adds preferences for setting the event date and time. It also handles events more than 99 days hence.
